Essential Oils. Nature’s plant medicine.

Shamanism has a deep reverence for the healing power of plants, referred to as plant medicine.

It honors the nourishing physical qualities of the plant, and, even more powerfully, it honors the spirit of the plant: its prana, its energy, and its particular expression of the divine.

Each plant has a different medicine, or energetic speciality, and the essential oil of the plant is its concentrated essence.

The nature of the plant itself will tell you something of it’s medicine. For example, the medicine of an earthy tree oil is very grounding, while the medicine of a bright citrus oil is energizing.

These oils are symbiotic with our own nature, and their life force and unique vibration will promote our healing on a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level.

How I use oils.

Priestesses the world over have been using this plant medicine for a hot minute (at least 3000 years).

I personally use essential oils daily in my cooking, to clean my house, as my skincare, to stay healthy, to make my house smelly yummy, in my bath, in my shower, as presents, you name it. These little ‘gifts of the earth’ are my lifestyle.

For the record, I’m not a perfect green goddess. I use gel nail polish, and I get my hair highlighted. I love chocolate chip cookies. These are not ‘pure, toxin-free’ moves.

Thankfully, essential oils offset my not-so-angelic indulgences. Every little bit of ‘healthy’ helps, and when I am connected to nature, I just feel better.

And my absolute favorite use of essential oils is for their energetic bennies.

Not all oils are created equal.

Essential oils are an unregulated industry. The oils you will find in most healthfood stores and online are frankly, gross. They are often filled with artificial fillers, inferior oils, or carriers. They are not the plant medicine nature intended.
